How is this describing an alternative to the Benedict path? I didn't see anything in the document implying that practicing gays and lesbians should be allowed full communion with the church in holy communion. Encouraging people to love and accept persons who happen to be homosexual is not the same thing as endorsing the lifestyle as acceptable. There are Catholics who are homosexual and choose not practice the lifestyle because they believe it to be wrong. If one looks at Christ's example, He ate with sinners and embraced them with love. He rescued the adultress woman from being stoned to death, however, he also told her to go and sin no more. Given the prejudice and sometimes hatred exhibited by many Christians towards homosexuals, it is important to have our spiritual leaders reminding us that hate and alienation is not he way Christ brings people to himself. However, I don't think that the document did not in anyway present a path separate from that of the pope.
