"so if the romans ruled us, we should relate to them like how Jesus related to them ?"
If the Romans ruled us, God would ordain us to move against tyranny and injustice, but not to fall to the level of the Romans by treating them as they had acted upon us. IE, we'd be called to show love and forgiveness for them by not, say, stoning average citizens for just being Roman, nor lopping off heads for simply being an official. Justice would be served in one way or another, but it would not be for us to categorically exact it.
"was jesus "free" under Roman rule ?"
Jesus was slave to no man, He was the Christ. He was inherently free. Remember, the temptations in the desert showed Jesus had the power to do many things (rocks to bread etc) which He did not do, while His miracles further demonstrate His power. Jesus, being God, could have smited the Roman Empire had He chosen to, just as God had destroyed Israel's enemies in the OT.
"Why was Jesus friendly to a Roman centurion knowing that the Jews were in rebellion to Rome ? was Jesus consorting with the enemy like Jane Fonda ?"
Jesus was showing the unconditional love He has for everyone to the Centurion. Jesus was not a partisan or Jewish underground ring leader, He was (is) the universal savior of all men, regardless of their walk in life.
"the apostles were killed by the Romans.......why did they not rebel or resist arrest ?"
They had no means to rebel. Their situation was, in the secular sense, fairly hopeless. But remember, Peter cut the ear of the slave who came with the party to arrest Jesus. Christ rebuked him for it, and healed the man's ear ... The apostles probably did not feel called to arms in this matter, but called to martyrdom.

So why didn't Jesus move against the tyranny of Rome ? quote: Originally posted by Alex Coleman: Justice would be served in one way or another, but it would not be for us to categorically exact it..
Are you saying its not up to us to rebel against a tyrannical government ? quote: Originally posted by Alex Coleman: "was jesus "free" under Roman rule ?" Jesus was slave to no man, He was the Christ. He was inherently free..
So one can be under tyrannical rule and still be free ? and if so, why rebel at all ? quote: Originally posted by Alex Coleman: Remember, the temptations in the desert showed Jesus had the power to do many things (rocks to bread etc) which He did not do, while His miracles further demonstrate His power. So its possible to meet with the enemy's soldiers or generals and not be called a traitor ? quote: Originally posted by Alex Coleman: "the apostles were killed by the Romans.......why did they not rebel or resist arrest ?" They had no means to rebel. .
No means to rebel ? the Jews had a history of rebelling against Rome even before Christ was born, right ? quote: Originally posted by Alex Coleman: Their situation was, in the secular sense, fairly hopeless..

So if Peter cut of the ear of the slave, seems like they had it in them to rebel, right ? quote: Originally posted by Alex Coleman: .. The apostles probably did not feel called to arms in this matter, but called to martyrdom.
So christians should be called to martyrdom and not rebellion ?

Why did Jesus say blessed are the peacemakers. Did He want to make peace with the cruel, oppressive, heavy taxing Romans ?
