I think Jesus was offering spiritual hope to a people that had no military option to overthrow their government, even if they had wanted to do so. He caused plenty of social and religious upheaval wherever He went, but this was not the primary intention of His life's work. He wanted people (that is, individuals)to understand first that they had the power and freedom to trust and obey God in the face of all earthly adversities. He loosed the bonds of the human heart, and eventually these teachings contributed to the philosophical underpinnings of western civilization.

I guess because loves Jesus all His people even if they don't respect Him or acknowledge Him.
