I'm interested in getting a Ph.D in Political Philosophy or History. Please cite any programs not infected by postmoderism and all the rest of it. A Catholic university is preferred.
As someone who has just started their Ph.D. in History, I can tell you that there are going to be very few programs not infected with postmodernism, especially in History. I am not saying this to cause you to lose hope, but rather to encourage you to seek out a program with a good reputation, or one that fits you the best. Once you are in, take the postmodernism in stride and attempt to guide your studies into areas that you are comfortable with, which is what I try to do. Just bear it and get the degree and then seek out the great conservative schools for jobs. I would highly recommend the two schools named, as they are solid. Thanks Daniel. I'm afraid this is probably how it's going to have to be. The schools I'm most interested in - e.g., Thomas Aquinas College or Christendom College - don't offer PhDs. grr...
