Collectivism is a good thing, when the individual members are free to leave. What represents communalism better than the church? Collectivism and the principles put forward on strictly that basis are properly derived from Judeo/Christian scripture and tradition.

The enemy of freedom is statism, which puts the collective above the individual. Proper (and good) collectivism recognizes the power of community is nothing without individuals.
