Dear Friends of the Witherspoon Institute,

The Witherspoon Institute is a research organization dedicated to enhancing public knowledge of the principles necessary for democratic societies, particularly in the American context. We would like to spread the word about three seminars that we are offering this summer to university students at various levels. Links to all of these seminar descriptions can be viewed from Witherspoon's website: www.winst.org. Links to each individual seminar's announcement are also provided below.

The first is a seminar for graduate students in all of the social sciences on Marriage and the Social Sciences to be held in mid-June. Presenting scholars will include W. Bradford Wilcox (Sociology, University of Virginia), Brian D’Onofrio (Psychology, Indiana), Sara McLanahan (Sociology, Princeton), Margarita Mooney (Sociology, UNC-Chapel Hill), Sharon Sassler (Sociology, Cornell), Amy Wax (Law, University of Pennsylvania), and Robert P. George (Politics, Princeton).

The second is a seminar for graduate, professional, and advanced undergraduate students on the First Principles of natural law and their implications for public life and institutions. It will be held in early August. Presenters will include Christopher Tollefsen (Philosophy, South Carolina), Thomas D'Andrea, (Philosophy, Cambridge), Geoffrey Vaughan (Political Science, UMBC), and Robert P. George (Politics, Princeton), among others.

The third is a seminar for graduate students in philosophy call the Thomistic Seminar that deals with Thomistic and Analytic philosophy. It will be held in the second week of August. Presenters will include David Gallagher (Philosophy, formerly at Catholic U. of America), Gyula Klima (Philosophy, Fordham), Robert Koons (Philosophy, UT-Austin), and David Oderberg (Philosophy, U. of Reading, UK).

I am curious, what graduate-level degree program would be the most advantageous for a marriage advocate? I have thus far assumed Marriage & Family Therapy.

I am not familiar with all of the seminars that might interest you, but the Witherspoon Institute will again be hosting a seminar on marriage for graduate students in the social science disciplines this summer.
