I came across this paper by Dr. Lee Edwards, a scholar and historian at the Heritage Foundation. It is a great insight into the history of the modern American conservative movement, how it developed and what it means today.

ISI Staffers may be interested in this conservative organization the Liberty Institute in India whose goals are very similar to their own: http://www.libertyindia.org/about.htm
Good to see that other democratic people share similar views and values! |

Edwards' book, The Conservative Revolution, provides an expanded presentation of this argument and is a fine (no, essential) read.
In the last few days, I had the opportunity to read through a fascinating symposium on contemporary conservatism in the Spring 1986 Intercollegiate Review. Much of the insights are relevant today (particularly with respect to the status of neoconservatism). The issue is question is available online at this website. Marc |
