I was being sarcastic. I had a humanities professor recently tell me how important learning about Marx was, especially for a political science major, because Marx's ideas weren't bad - he was just misunderstood. Why do I pay thousands of dollars for the privilege of going to school? In addition - the larger problem seems to be convincing my peers that reading these kinds of works is important, and that they help reinforce their principles.

Okay, thanks for answering my question abuot your earlier post. To answer your issue regarding convincing your peers to read works like Kirk, perhaps find a couple ladies who would find guys reading that as attractive and start an ad campaign with that.

What would Russell Kirk say about Ann Coulter?
Perhaps something similar to William Buckley, or even Christopher Hitchens. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Doug1943, |

I believe he was being sarcastic. At least that is how I read the line.
It's disgusting, at least to me, the amount of time given to conservative ideas and principles in education today, throughout all levels. I remember being taught that the Federalists, and anglophiles for that matter, were more or less evil, and that I should be happy that Jefferson defeated Adams for the presidency, because Jefferson would have supported the New Deal, MoveOn and Jesse Jackson. |
