I'm applying to grad programs in political philosophy. Does anyone know of a program that incorporates political philosophy (classical through contemporary), continental philosophy, and theology?

Most of the programs I find require a subfield in comparative or IR or something I find uninteresting.

I can recommend the doctoral program at my graduate alma mater, the University of Dallas. The Institute of Philosophic Studies there offers a doctorate in Politics, which shares a common core curriculum with students of philosophy and literature that includes courses in the Western theological tradition, inter alia.

Find out more at http://www.udallas.edu/braniff/ppolitics.cfm.

Well there is a very good program just starting up at Baylor. Mary Nichols will be heading it up and she is excellent. I received my MA in pol. phil. in her program at Fordham U.
Also look at Notre Dame, Boston College, Claremont, LSU.

I am also looking for a Political Theory/Political philosophy program. I am interested in a lot, but, taking my Catholic faith pretty seriously, I am especially interested in Catholic thought and what political theory can come out of that. What I really want is somewhere that is not hostile to that. Ideally, there would be a scholar doing this kind of thing. Are there any? I have been looking at Notre Dame and been told Duke, Princeton, Chicago, and Toronto are worth looking into. Thanks,

Justin

Justin,

I have similar interests. Notre Dame and Boston College have very good Pol. Phil. programs. Princeton had Robert George but I haven't heard good things about their Pol. Sci. Dept.. Definitely look at Baylor's new program. Mary Nichols used to teach at Catholic University and she runs a great program and very friendly to Catholic Pol. Theory. Baylor has been adding some great teachers in recent years.
