I would like to invite all first-year students to share if their college experiences have met their expectations or how they have not. If you are not a first-year student your input is also welcome.

I hardly know where to begin. First of all, I encourage all high school seniors to take their college searches very seriously. I made so many mistakes with my choices of colleges -- much more so than the average person, and it took me three years to get it right :-)

Excellent lessons for high school seniors. I am glad that you finally found your school and best of luck. Are you from the St. Louis area?
My mom tried to get me to attend the local community college because it was cheaper and I could get my gen. eds. out of the way. However, I chose to go to a private liberal arts college and while it cost A LOT more, it is worth it for the most part. While some things have changed in my three years here that I do not particularly agree with, I would not be where I am had I gone to the community college. I was able to take advanced classes in my major during my sophomore year, which would not have been possible at the community college. I must stress to high school students not to let money get in the way of your college dreams. Your parents should be considered and price should be considered in your decision as colleges tend to sugar coat their campus to prospective students, so talk to students in private and get their opinions. However, the final decision on what college you go to is yours.
