RETHINKING BUSINESS MANAGEMENT:
An Examination of the Foundations of Business School Education May 18-19, 2007 at Princeton University of Princeton, New Jersey A public conference of the Witherspoon Institute, cosponsored by the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University, the Clayton Fund, the Social Trends Institute, and the Philadelphia Trust Company. At a time when one scandal after another roils the business world, and stricter governance chokes corporations, the Witherspoon Institute proposes to consider how a change in business philosophy may help to restore integrity to American commercial life. The conference brings together distinguished scholars from the fields of business administration, law, philosophy, and ethics to discuss how managers and corporations can enrich their conceptions of human flourishing in keeping with the norms of human dignity. Featuring Anthony Daniels, author R. Edward Freeman and David Newkirk, University of Virginia – Darden School of Business Edwin Hartman, New York University – Stern School of Business Wilfred McClay, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and the Ethics and Public Policy Center Ian Mitroff, Alliant International University and University of California at Berkeley David Novak, University of Toronto James O’Toole, University of Southern California Roger Scruton, philosopher Robin Fretwell Wilson, Washington and Lee University School of Law Rethinking Business Management is free and open to the public.
