I would encourage everyone to check out this website: http://www.invisiblechildren.com

It details the present situation in Uganda, an area the U.N. has named the worst humanitarian disaster in the world, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, most of them children. Many of the children who have not been killed are forced to be killers themselves and join a rebel army. Besides the warfare going on, there is also extreme poverty and diseases that are adding to the problem.

On this website, you can order a powerful DVD - I just viewed it last night and it is a chilling documentary - and a call to action that we can each do something to help raise more awareness of what is happening in Uganda (not to mention many other places around the world). A friend of mine and his brother went on a religious mission to Uganda earlier this summer and they conveyed personal stories of the people they met and the impoverished situation they could not believe was real. In the northern area of Uganda, religious persecution is also part of the situation, as the muslim armies coming in from the Sudan are persecuting Christians. Some figures estimate that in the last 5 years, there has been more martyrs for Christianity than in the previous 2,000 years combined. They told me the Ugandans have such a strong faith, in spite of the lack of food, shelter, and the horrible situation they face each day. It is almost as if the lack of material goods increases their faith in God.

Check out the DVD by ordering it online, it is worth the small cost for the huge price that Ugandans are paying in human lives.
