Glad to see that someone else has observed this important omission.
While the Coast Guard Academy is not among the "major service academies," it most assuredly ranks among the top four-year institutions in our country. I once heard that the CG Academy is the most selective school in the nation, accepting the smallest percentage of applicants each year. Not sure where that claim stands today, but I imagine it retains a very competitive ranking. While the other academies require a nomination as part of application, the Coast Guard Academy selects its cadets strictly on merit.
As for the school itself, what more can be said for a place that teaches leadership by having cadets sail a 300 foot tall-masted ship around the globe? Our nation's oldest continuous sea-going service (no, not the U.S. Navy) is rich in tradition and I would expect that devotion to the past should get the attention of someone at ISI. There's always next year.
