First of all, congratulations to your son on being a Merit Semi-finalist.
I don't have any specific information on Creighton, but I can give you some things that would be good indicators of what you're looking for.
Since Creighton is a Catholic university, one thing to look for is whether the school requires its theology professors to sign the
Mandatum, which is an oath of fidelity to the teachings of the church. A school that requires this is probably more likely to base it's educational philosophy in Western culture as opposed to multi-culturalism. Another thing to do is simply look at the school's academic catalogue online and see if their core (or distribution requirements) covers the main subjects ISI recommends.
Since Creighton is in Nebraska and Whitman is in Washington, I'm assuming out-of-state schools are fair game. If you're looking for a Catholic education, look at Christendom College, Franciscan University of Steubenville, University of Dallas, Providence College or Thomas Aquinas College.
If you're not necessarily looking for a Catholic education, look at Hillsdale College or the University of Chicago.
I, personally, would disuade you from Whitman College. I specifically mentioned this school in my review of ISI's
All American Colleges which can be found
here (you'll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see it.) I would recommend getting this book as well.
Good hunting!
