UD has been very generous with my children in merit scholarship aid. They are building a reputation on a shoestring, but they know they have to be generous with top scholars, especially ones who have chosen to serve in their communities and to live a well-rounded high school life.
It is more difficult to evaluate the campus environment in June because only summer session students are there, but you will still be able to meet the professors and catch a glimpse of the vision that drives University of Dallas. I hope that while you are there, you are able to see a little bit of what makes UD an excellent choice for an intelligent and motivated student who wants an education suited for living well rather than merely for making a living. I will be interested to hear how you and your daughter like the school after your visit.

We went to the Odyssey days at UD and were very impressed by the faculty and the few students we meet. My daughter is strongly considering it. ON a personal note I thought the campus was kind of dreary looking - although obviously great building don't make a great school. My understanding is that UD give a few (1.5 -2.5% of applicants) full tuition scholarships. Did your student receive one?

I'm glad that you were able to meet the faculty and see the campus. We were there in the flush of a green spring, but my kids tell me the campus isn't always as pretty as it was when we were there. During our college tours, we saw some lovely campuses--Samford U. in Alabama comes to mind.
Yes, my oldest received a full tuition scholarship, and my second, a 3/4 tuition scholarship. From what you said about your daughter, it wouldn't surprise me if she received a generous offer from UD.
Is your daughter considering any other schools? I would love to hear about Samford University, Belmont University, and Oklahoma City University. My third will be a music major and we are looking for a school with an excellent core and with an excellent vocal performance program. It seems a hard combination to find.

My daughter is considering three colleges: University of Dallas, University of Tulsa, and University of Oklahoma. I understand Oklahoma City University is great for performing arts...my kids are not involved in performing arts at all so I have no personal experience. My middle daughter went on a tour of the school with her finance class...they concentrated on the business college...she really loved it. I know nothing about Samford or Belmont.
