Are there any schools that come close to capturing the collegiate ideals set forth by General Bunting in his book, "An Education for Our Time?"

Ann,

Based on the reviews for the book you mentioned, I would start with the Young America's Foundation's list of Top Ten Conservative Colleges and their five honorable mention institutions which can be found here.

I would also recommend purchasing ISI's All-American Colleges for more options.

Good hunting!

Thank you. I've seen the YAF list before and I own the ISI college books. However, I think Bunting's ideas are still outside the scope of what these schools offer. His program recommendatios are very unique (students begin at age 16, mastery of 2 foreign languages including a non-Western one, mandatory study abroad, emphasis on history, outdoor survival education, service and character valued over tests and grades, etc.) It's like a melding of military boot camp, Great Books education, and Officer Training School. I'm waiting to see this school come into being before my children reach college age!
