The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/01/education/01educ.html) is supporting the idea of granting in-state tuition to illegal immigrants. What do you think of this idea? To me, the whole point of in-state tuition is that it benefits families who have been paying their taxes, doing their civic duty, and building up the community (perhaps for generations). It is NOT meant as a subsidy for people who snuck into the country, whose very presence here is a violation of multiple laws, who work off the books at tough, dangerous jobs for greedy employers who don't want to cough up the money to hire Americans, follow safety regulations, and play by the rules. Now taxpayers are expected to help underwrite this piece of corporate greed. Disgraceful.
