Lo and behold, today I was googling Senator Clinton's book on the net and what do I find (much to my surprise)? It turns out Senator Rick Santorum has a book out called It Takes a Family. And the publisher? Way to go ISI Books! I should have guessed this would happen after you published Karen Santorum's Everyday Graces. I picked that one up and it was a hit with my family. Thanks.

I am guessing the cover artist is the same for each of these titles. The similarities are too much.

No institution which prides itself on being a bastion of intelligent thought should take Rick "XXX XX XXX" Santorum seriously.

LibertyLover, how ironic that someone with your nickname on this forum would be a fan.

Joe -

I must say as a frequent wallflower to the ISI forum, I am compelled to finally make comment. I'm diassapointed in your last few rounds on topics. I cringed when I saw this fat ol' minnow thrown in thinking it too obvious. But I reckon Libertylover read Joe better than me. I much preffered the old Joe on earlier postings, the slightly nutty, overly confident Nietzschean lecturing Joe. I look forward to your obvious disagreement with this assesment, but that's okay Georgetown. As Ronnie Van Zant said, best be putting your boots on the street.

Santorum by the way is one of the few good guys out there and I can't wait to read his book. If he's true to form, I'm sure there will be plenty of attacks on his character but few relating to his positions.

Shrug? As I've made pretty clear in the past, I'll reply to pretty much anything and everything written on this forum. With very few exceptions, owing to boredom.

I'm not Neitzschean at all. But thanks for the label. And I don't lecture people; I'm far more humble than that.

This is awesome! I get to be named after my school now. Of course, you gotta be more specific; it's "Georgetown School of Foreign Service". Don't conflate me with those kids who are here because they didn't get into their first-choice Ivy. :P

Who is that?

How's this for an attack on his positions? Equating bestiality and homosexuality is stupid. So stupid that to make such an equation effectively removes one from the civilized, intelligent discourse of the nation.

That's his position, and it's an incredibly silly one.

You read The Onion, I hope. If not, you should. And a while back, they ran a picture of Sean Hannity in classic pose, with the headline underneath: "Fox News reporter asks the questions other reporters are too smart to ask."

Santorum is the Hannity of the senate. He's an embarassment. And smart conservatives, such as Glenn Reynolds, Ryan Sager, Andrew Sullivan, Christopher Hitchens (I know many people, including he himself, would disagree with calling him a conservative, but in today's modern political climate I'd care to argue that he qualifies) and others, have long been averse to him for the near-endless stream of silly, stupid things that flow out of his mouth.

Whatever you mean by "character", I'm not questioning it. I'm questioning the intelligence of his positions.

EDIT: Okay, just checked out that quote. Lynyrd Skynyrd? Wow. I like all kinds of music, but that's one thing I could never subject myself to.

EDIT 2: Sorry, didn't realize taking the Lord's name in vain was a no-no on these forums.

Hey Joe,

“Son, son, you’ve gone too far…” A little more Van Zant for you to Google. Not only are you an angry young man with apparently very little social life, you also have poor taste in music. Maybe I should have quoted Henry Rollins…or Bukowski.

Of course you’re not Neitzschean, his invective was a least thought provoking. Just trying to pull you’re beard and make you lash out…which you have. A humble man declaring his humility? I see the Jesuits have failed again. As you have rejected Christianity and have little problem taking the name or Christ in vain, which by the way Joe in your near-endless stream of silly, stupid things, is soemthing that offends a good many, I suggest in the interst of improving your character you check to see what a good Buddhist has to say about your ranting and yes, lecturing. Here’s another Google homework assignment for you: Thich Nhat Hahn. In fact, Georgetown School of Foreign Service, he’ll be a good study for you as you prepare to save the world.

Funny, when I was thinking of political positions, this isn’t quite were my mind first went. I’m not sure where you’re pulling this from but I’m intrigued now. When you’re able to explain to me how "bestiality and homosexuality" is able to produce life, I’ll ask for re-admittance to Joe-Land USA. I reckon silly old Skynyrd listening me is no longer welcome.

“Well, hey pretty mama
Lord, just take that city hike
Said go ahead pretty mama
Lord, just take your city hike
Well, I’d rather live with the hound dogs
For the rest of my natural born life”
