UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN. Post-Doctoral Faculty Fellowships, beginning August 27, 2008. The Program in Western Civilization & American Institutions invites applications for two post-doctoral fellowships. Fellows will be appointed for one academic year, renewable for a second year (given satisfactory performance), performing a combination of scholarship and the preparation and teaching of Great Books seminars. Candidates are selected on the basis of their scholarly potential and skill and interest in teaching in a great texts program. Recipients must have a Ph.D., may not hold a tenured position, and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The initial term of appointment is August 27, 2008- May 25, 2009. The stipend is $37,500. The deadline for applications is December 7, 2007. Selections will be announced in March. Please send one copy each of: a CV, a letter explaining research interests and plans, a statement of your interest in teaching the Great Books in a multi-disciplinary setting, evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching, and a research paper or other suitable evidence of scholarship.
